Last night Dan and I wanted to go watch Good Night, and Good Luck but missed the final screening. I guess the 10:00pm time slot was too gangsta for that movie and Mann decided to play Curtis Jackson's movie instead in that theater. So instead we decided to watch Sarah Silverman's movie Jesus is Magic. It's part stand up and part music video. While the stand up portions are humorous for her willingness to say whatever the hell she wants, her music video interludes have very few laughs and don't do the rest of her movie much justice. There was only one joke in all of her songs that really made me laugh, while the rest might have evoked a chuckle here and there. It reminds me of another movie I recently watched, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, in the sense that the movie would be pretty good if not for the terrible music. What was the director thinking when he made a western and then had this guy make the music for it? But going back to Jesus is Magic, I would probably wait till this came out on DVD for you to watch it if you haven't already. It's not exactly one of those movies that benefits being seen on a big screen. While it may have been worth the $8 that I paid to see it, it definitely wasn't worth the $9.25 that Dan paid to see it. Her encore might have been worth the cost of admission alone.
