I went to the Ruby's across the street from my house the other day with my roommate Robin Brown. I hadn't eaten at a Ruby's restaurant in a long time. Maybe it was because a good three and a half years of my life was spent under the employment of Ruby's Diners Inc. And while I don't hold any animosity towards the restaurant chain, I can't quite say that I'm in love with their food. It's decent. However, it was there where I met some amazing friends and made some great memories. One memory that I don't have is the American Kobe Chopped Steak Dinner.

Not only does the name make you think of the Lakers basketball player, but also it's simply an insult to the real deal in Kobe Japan. I was fortunate enough to dine on some Kobe Beef when my friend Mike and I visited back in February and if I haven't said this before, I'll say it right now: Kobe Beef is the meat of the Gods.
What ever happened to Ruby Burgers with cheese? Was that not cutting the mustard with the Ruby patrons? I also saw that they have added a Carnitas Salad along with many other head-scratchers.
Writing about Ruby's brings back some fond memories. Maybe I'll write an exposé about my Ruby stories. The Monday Night Super Shifts. Pirate Night. Improv Birthday Songs. Don't Mind If I Do.

I totally forgot about “Don’t Mind If I Do.” Who needs a supermarket when you can take home 1 gallon containers of OJ, a pound of frozen clam chowder, and frozen steaks.
kobe beef at rubys..i wonder how many people order that one? my personal favorite was the peppercorn gouda burger. apparently those who dine at ruby’s did not like gouda cheese as much as i do…it made it to the menu for only a couple of months. bastards. now i want some chili fries…
