Over the past few years, I have noticed a steady decline in my movie-going attendance. The strange thing is that I love the whole movie theater experience: neck-breaking huge screens, clothes-rattling sound systems, soggy yellow popcorn, and people of youth and ethnicity yelling at the characters in the movie. So what’s my deal? I’ll tell you. It’s not that the quality of movies are going down, but most movies don’t warrant a double-digit admission fee. I love Deuce Bigalow as much as the next guy, but Rob Schneider ain’t worth more than an LA Martini.
Seeing as how this summer brought several blockbuster movies worthy of the price of admission, I had to choose which movies I would actually pay to go see. Here are the movies that I have seen over the past few months, and my quick reviews for them.
Ratatouille – I love all things Pixar except Cars.
Transformers – It was CG pornography. I didn’t care about the filler.
The Ten – My biased opinion: it’s the funniest movie of the year.
The Bourne Ultimatum – Non-stop action teamed with a good story and actor.
Hot Rod – If you like Andy Samberg you will love this movie.
Wild Hogs – Just joking. I would rather drown a puppy.
