Melissa’s Birthday Hike

My cousin Melissa turned 27 this week, and to celebrate, she invited her friends to go on a hike through the hills of Altadena's Echo Mountain. It was around 5 miles roundtrip and was more strenuous than I had expected. The sun was in full effect and was kicking it old school with his friend Smog Alert.

After a few hours and a lot of resting stops, we made it to "White City" where there were the ruins of an old resort that used to sit at that top of the mountain at the end of the railway. There was also an echo phone that was pointed towards Castle Canyon where you could yell into and hear your voice a couple seconds later.

Afterwards we hiked down and ate at a "fast" food vegetarian place which was surprisingly delicious, especially their baked french fries.

My body hurts. I think someones trying to tell me to go to the gym. Derek? Is that you?

Morgan! I’m so happy to hear that you were sore too! I was sore for daaaaays, but morning after the hike I had breakfast with my friend Danny, who wasn’t sore in the slightest. I started to whine about getting old, until he reminded me that he lifts redwoods for a living (he’s an aprentice for a woodworker).

PS: I am SO happy that you two came out for the hike.

Got something to say? Go for it!
