I Love Japan

Japan is often times thought of as being ahead of the curve when it comes to electronics and gadgets. They have been known to be more environmentally sound than the Yanks across the Pacific. But did you know that they are far more advanced in reality TV too? It's true. I know you might be thinking of Takeshi's Castle, known as MXC here in the States, but I have stumbled across something far more entertaining that that.

I normally don't link to viral videos because there are plenty of sites that take care of that corner of the internet, but this video brought me so much joy I just had to share it. I was literally in tears when I watched this for the first time.

It's a clip of a Japanese TV show where the contestants watch other Japanese people attempting to read and speak English. If the contestant laughs, he is beaten with a stick. The classroom environment that it is shot in and the Japanese school uniform that the men wear implies to me that the creators of this show are students who used to get swatted for laughing at their peers when they struggled with English.
