Hello faithful readers of the Goodbye Mailbox Weblog. This is your humble narrator addressing you with a simple request to help shape the outcome of a "reality" tv show. The show in question is Fox's latest venture where the people of America vote for the winner: On The Lot. If you haven't heard about it, simply put it is American Idol for filmmakers.
It just so happens that two guys who I went to school with made the cut to be a part of the final 50 contestants. Justin Lutsky and David May are both Chapman Film School graduates of the 2005 class that I was a part of. While Justin was cut in the second round, David has made it to the final 18 and will continue to the next round if he is not one of the competitors who receives the three lowest amounts of votes.
There were way more than three films that were worse than his, but the judges didn't exactly give him the best seal of approval so any votes will help. You can watch his film along with the 17 other one-minute shorts that he is up against on Fox's website: TheLot.com and then click on the word "VOTE" in the top black bar. If you are reading this on Memorial Day night please vote for his film. His name is David May and his film was "File Size".
Side Note: Not only is David a talented director, he is also a great actor. At one point he was going to play Jacob in my senior thesis Job One, but scheduling forced me to find a different actor since David had other projects he was already committed to as well as having to shoot his own senior thesis. You can see him in Bon Apetit, Justin's film, which is linked below.
Another Side Note: Even though Justin was cut in the second round, he will have no problems finding work in the film industry. His senior thesis project was one of my favorite films that came out of Chapman that year.

I was so excited to find out David May is one of the contestants!
He was one of my favorite people at Chapman. How great would it have been to watch one of the Bento crew on reality TV, though?
Rose, I’m not sure if we’re reality tv material. David’s got IT though as far as this show goes. He’s got a great personality (for tv purposes) and he’s got a lot of talent (for the making good films purposes).
