Anyone who knows me knows how much I despised the city of Los Angeles. Traffic, vagrants, freaks, and the public disregard for the general well-being of community are a good base to my contempt towards The City of Angels. And while I know that Orange County also has it’s sundry list of reasons to hate it, I couldn’t say that it was a bad place to live.
Last month, Robin and I were left with a decision to either find a new replacement roommate or find a two bedroom place to live when our other roommate informed us that he wouldn’t be continuing to rent out the third room in the house. We had gone through this same process just a couple months before when Colter moved out. It was hard enough to find a replacement roommate back then and he really was doing it more as a favor to us rather than out of necessity considering he had a second house in Valencia that he lived at during the week.
It became clear to us rather quickly that we would be looking for a new place rather than a new roommate. Los Angeles was brought up as an option, oddly enough by me. I knew that eventually I would be moving up to LA, but I never imagined this soon. Robin was reluctant to move since his job is in Orange County and he recently got hired by MLB.com to work for the Angels at Angels Stadium, but he had also wanted to move to LA for some time now.
Mid February, Robin and I moved to a house in Hollywood. It’s nice. I actually like it more than my previous house which I liked a lot so that says something. We live between the blocks of Vine and Highland, and Santa Monica and Sunset. We have a gated driveway that fits both of our cars so parking is not an issue. Street parking isn’t too bad either since we are on a quiet street that has no direct connection to the major streets that surround us. My room is the largest I have ever lived in. The kitchen, bathroom, living room, and dining room are all very large as well. Overall I am very pleased with my house; the fact that it sits on a piece of land in Los Angeles hasn’t gotten to me yet. Maybe it never will.
So to get to the point of this post, I live in LA now. Call me to hang out if you live or are in the area. Also, since I have spent the last few weeks packing, moving, and unpacking, I haven’t really taken the time to update my blog. Sorry for those of you who check it often only to find the same lame post about a woman and her maglite sitting at the top of the page. I hope to get back into a more consistent and regular schedule.
