A couple of years ago I went to a test screening of Anchorman with Colter. After watching the movie, I couldn't help but to promote it to all of my friends as, "the funniest movie you'll see all year (2004)." I still stand by that comment and if anyone would like to challenge that, be my guest. In 2005, I guess I would have to say 40 Year Old Virgin was my favorite comedy. For 2006, it will more than likely be Borat.
The movie follows the title character Borat, played by Sacha Baron Cohen, on his journey across the United States on his quest to meet his dream girl. His roadtrip leads him to numerous places that become his comedic playground where he exploits the ignorance and idiocy of the unsuspecting interviewees. While the story of boy-seeking-girl isn't quite groundbreaking enough to be considered for a screenwriting award, the humor, acting, and the non-acting (the film is sort of a documentary) throughout the film is more than enough to keep your eyes watering from tears of laughter. Often times you won't believe what is being said or what your eyes are seeing. Your stomach might hurt from laughing and your pants may get wet from pissing yourself, but it will be all worth it in the end when you walk out of the theatre reflecting back on the last 90 minutes that were just spent laughing uncontrollably.
If you get offended easily, you may be better off to watch RV which will offend you but for totally different reasons. But if you're the type of person who enjoys laughing at the expense of other clueless people, this movie should be just the thing to cure what ails you. Sacha's ability to keep a straight face and remain in character is simply amazing.
In other great news, while standing in line for Borat, the guys running the test screening handed out tickets to see Reno 911!: Miami for this Thursday in Northridge. I have 8 tickets, 4 of which might be taken. If anyone is interested in seeing all of the members of The State reunited on what could be a competitor for funniest movie of 2006, email me or call me up.

“Give them more money! Give them more money!” Best anniversary ever.
