Apple I Love You…

…and you're not bringing me down. A couple years ago, I was employed at the Apple Store in Mission Viejo. I worked in a fun environment alongside fun people selling fun items; it was fun. While employed there I came across some pretty hot deals and freebies (not as good as the recent gift from Steve to Apple employees) which made working there that much better.

One of the deals I came across was a super discounted 40gb Photo iPod when a newer model was released. I can't remember what I paid but after my employee discount on top of the discounted price, it was super cheap. I bought the 2-year Apple Care with it because I had worked there long enough to see plenty of people come through the store with random iPod problems. Now this is not to say that the iPod is a faulty item, but it's a miniature spinning hard drive encased in a plastic and metal shell that you carry around with you everywhere so you never know what can happen.

My Free iPod

Over the course of two years I had to take in my iPod five times to get serviced. I don't drop my iPods or bang them against the desk. If you look at the screen and case it will appear as clean and flawless as the day I open the package because I keep it in my iPod sock at all times. I just happen to have really bad luck with iPods. But my luck has changed. Since today would have been the 6th time I had to take in an iPod to be serviced, the nice people at the Apple Store implemented a "No Lemon" policy and gave me a brand new 80gb Video iPod since they no longer make the 40gb Photo iPod.

So after two years of using my iPod, was given a slimmer new iPod with twice the capacity and better features for free. I bought the Apple Care for this iPod too so hopefully in two years I can trade this up for an iPod that makes me sandwiches when I'm hungry.

Thanks Apple for the great customer care.

Wow I had not heard about Steve Jobs’ gift to Apple employees. Nice! But you got a pretty sweet deal yourself… I look forward to checking out your new toy. I hope you get some fun TV and movies on there! I recommend you take advantage of the free first episode of “Human Giant” and 9-minute preview of “Ratatouille,” if you haven’t already done so!

speaking of apple… have you read the reviews on the new iphone? :( i was getting all hot for it, but as it turns out it was mostly just hype… Now you know what is going to be cool is the next gen ipod. If the 6th gen ipod looks like the iphone with a touch screen and 5″ screen that would be rediculous. i would say that is worth the 500 bucks and throw the phone part away…

Got something to say? Go for it!
