I have been sitting on my URL of derekdoi.com for quite some time now. For the past 5 years or so, it has just been cloning whatever was on goodbyemailbox but I figured it was about time to use it as a portfolio site. If you follow the link, you will find stuff I have worked on, old and new, videos and photos, and maybe some random graphics from time to time.

Mike is leaving for Europe so we all journeyed down to The Whale’s Vagina to celebrate in style (style doesn’t require class does it?).
Amtrak hooked us up with our own train car on the way down and turned a blind eye to our cases of beer and bottles of booze. I believe it was for the safety of the other passengers and not because we deserved our own car.
Mike reserved the Star Suite at The Ivy Hotel in the Gas Lamp District in downtown San Diego which turned out to be pretty awesome except for the noise complaints at 6:30 pm. We pre-partied in the suite and then hit the city.
Drinks and dancing at Voyeur and The Bitter End followed by more nonsense in the suite.
And just hours later, we were on a train heading back up to Irvine to cap off a pretty awesome 24 hours of mayhem.
Dear Apple,
I love your products. I even worked in one of your retail stores for a year or so. Among my favorite products is your iPhone. I am currently writing these words on an iPhone using the wordpress app. Please, for the love of God, make a software update that has ‘Bed Mode’. I often times view my phone while laying down either on my bed or a sofa and when the phone does it’s automatic rotate feature, I have to readjust my position or phone so that I can continue to read/browse with the text oriented along the same axis as my eyes, not the ground. I know I am not the only person with this grievance as I have discussed this with several other iPhone users and have found a few articles online on the same topic. It’s small things like this that drive customers to jailbreak their phones.
And while we’re on the topic of desired iPhone features, can we please use the volume buttons to take pictures while in camera mode? I know there are other camera apps that make this possible, but I don’t want to clutter my phone with multiple apps if it can be accomplished within one singular app. Here is a nice list of features that iPhone users have been requesting for years.
Sincerly,
Derek
If you haven’t been going to Eric Koziatek’s Comedy Collision show in Santa Monica every 1st Friday of the month, then you might have missed the greatest time traveling movie since Back to the Future III. We wrote this pretty much on the fly and shot it in about an hour. Jesse was a good sport and by channeling his high school acting coach he was able to turn in the performance of a lifetime. There has been talk of turning this into a trilogy, just like any other good intellectual piece, but for now, you will have to just keep hitting replay at the end of the video. Enjoy.

Do you have a pet? Is it the most cherished thing in your life? Does it weigh 20 lbs or less? Does it run around the house and rip shit up all the time? If you answered yes to those questions, then consider getting yourself a Pet Shelf. It’s the best way to show your guests that you love your pet, but just can’t be bothered by chasing it around the house all day.
Simply take your pet and place it on this shelf to keep it from running amok. If your cherished pet has even the simplest understanding of the laws of gravity, it will know that taking a step off the shelf will cause it to fall. Most animals learn this concept at a very early stage in their little animal lives. The Pet Shelf works best on small dogs, but has been known to work with cats as well as long as the shelf is placed no lower than 20 feet in the air. The Pet Shelf, however, should not be used with turtles as I have found they do not grasp the concept of gravity and/or falling as well as other animals.
For all of you who were unable to answer yes to the questions at the beginning of this post, consider purchasing or adopting a pet that you can one day place on a shelf while you play online poker and eat frozen burritos.
