I read somewhere once that if you ever have the opportunity to take a portrait in front of a red wall, you should take it. I usually do, and when I do, it usually does end up looking better than a normal white wall or background.

As I was getting out of my car at work today, I saw a hawk perched on the next level of the parking structure. I got my camera out to take a picture and zoomed in on him. Right as I was hitting the shutter, he flew off, but I managed to get this picture. If you can’t tell, he was holding a pigeon in his talons.

This is a time-lapse from LA to the Nevada State line played in reverse. I wanted to get the entire time-lapse from LA to Vegas but the battery died on my GoPro Helmet Cam before we made it there. A friend and I were driving out there for CES so we left around 5:00 in the morning which allowed me the rare opportunity to see the sun rise. Please play full frame!

Winged Statues of Hoover Dam

Having extra time in Vegas, Pat and I drove out to the Hoover Dam to check it out for the first time. It was massive and quite impressive up close. Along the Nevada side of the river, there were two huge bronze statues that watched over the dam.

It seems like the hits keep coming for Apple’s latest product. Maybe this is an isolated incident, or maybe it’s been like this for all the previous models, but I’ve never noticed it on my prior iPhones.

My iPhone 4′s camera appears to be off axis by 2.4 degrees. I laid the camera on it’s right side (the side without the volume buttons) on a flat surface and took a picture of the back of my keyboard which was also laying flat on the same surface and there was a noticeable slant to the resulting image.

Is anyone else having this same issue?

At Least They're Honest

As I was driving down Sunset Blvd the other day, I saw this filming location sign hanging on a street light. It said “CRIME” and had an arrow pointing right. Maybe it was for CSI or maybe there’s a movie filming called “Crime”, but I thought about all the people who might not know what the yellow signs around LA are for, and all the tourists that probably saw that sign and thought to themselves, wow, I guess I won’t go down that street.

Jesse Is Like A Modern Day Robin Hood

A modern-day Robin Hood with bad aim. However, he did manage to throw a few darts at a dartboard and practically split one of them in half. The picture you see above is the actual outcome of two consecutive throws and was not set up manually or altered in any way. The tip of the second dart struck and wedged itself into the plastic fins of the first dart. The only thing that would have made this more awesome is if it hit any number higher than 3. At least he’s consistent.
